Hide AdChoir members will be bringing their teddies and are keen to encourage as many audience members as possible to bring their own bears. The picnic will take place during the extended interval. Soft drinks will be on sale.
Concordia Singers’ musical director Ian Assersohn said: “There’s plenty of sunshine in our lively programme as many of our songs extol the joys of the season, spanning the centuries from the mediaeval round ‘Sumer is Icumen in’ through Elgar’s ‘As Torrents in Summer’ right up to some carefree picnicking teddy bears.
“We hope people will be impressed by the choir’s repertoire of animal noises. It wasn’t until rehearsals began that I realised quite how many of these songs require them. Listen out particularly for sheep, cows and assorted jungle animals.
“The concert also features the Martineau Brass quintet with their own selection of summertime music.”
