Emily Phillips, director, said: “This will be a venue combining a scrapstore and activity space to encourage, inspire and enable creativity, sustainability and community.
“The scrapstore will redistribute clean and safe waste donated by businesses and individuals for creative reuse, such as for art, craft, play and DIY, and the activity space will run creative activity sessions for all ages and skill levels and be available for hire.
“Individuals, groups and organisations will be able to become scrapstore members and access materials in a cheap and environmentally-friendly way.”

The CIC is also already selling packs of materials online and distributing them through Adur Gateway Community Hub.
Emily said: “We want to make The Scrap Space a welcoming community resource that is proudly part of the circular economy. We are passionate about getting people together, getting people creating and using what we already have to do so.
“We see repurposing whatever we can get our hands on as an enjoyable challenge and a springboard for creativity. We just think it makes sense to have this mindset so we can better look after our planet. Even better, if we can do this together in the community, it’s a great way to connect with people.”
