Maxims nightclub, on South Street, closed in 2019 and is now trading as Rustico restaurant and takeaway on the ground floor and basement.
According to plans submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council, the upper three floors of the five-storey mid-terraced building would be converted into three self-contained flats if the proposals are given the green light.

Hide AdPlans say a studio flat, 1-bed flat and 2-bed maisonette would be created.
According to the documents, the size of the commercial space would be reduced by converting the existing restaurant seating area on the first floor and commercial kitchen on the second floor.
As well as this, part of the existing roof space would be converted to form the third floor of the upper maisonette.
The design and access document says the main ground floor and front of the property will be unaffected and remain in commercial use so the main street scene will be preserved.
