Ashburnham
Ashburnham Local History Group are meeting on June 9, 7 p.m.. This month they will be meeting near Herstmonceux Parish Church for a short footpath walk of approx 1.5 km. They will look at the 15th Century Estate of a royal treasurer including deer park, castle and family tombs, plus both earlier and later historic features.
A Coffee Morning is to be held at Ashburnham Sports Pavilion on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. There will be cakes and produce for sale too! All proceeds are in aid of the new village hall.

Ashburnham & Penhurst WI are meeting on Monday, June 17, 7.30pm at the Sports Pavillion. They will be celebrating their 7th birthday with a party! Refreshments for the evening are bring and share party food. WI members free, visitors £2. No need to book – just go along!
The next Village Lunch is on June 18, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. The Afternoon Book Group’s May gathering is on June 27, 2 p.m. During June they will be reading ‘Love and Summer’, by William Trevor. It is a story of a farmer still mourning his first wife, whilst his young orphaned wife, Ellie, has an illicit attachment with a newly arrived stranger in the village. Ashburnham Church is holding a Men’s Breakfast on July 5, 8.30 a.m. at Ashburnham Place. Paul Wenham, General Director of Ashburnham Place, will talk on ‘5 minutes that changed my life’.
