Better prison care call for Ford
The Healthcare Commission and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons joined forces to urge the NHS to provide better healthcare for adults in the prison system.
The watchdogs said commissioning of healthcare services by primary care trusts (PCTs) around the country was variable and sometimes failed to meet the health needs of individual prisoners.
