The Guild of Photographers is the highly-regarded national photographic body whose members are dedicated to enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography.
It runs an Image of the Month competition, and received more than 10,000 entries during 2016. From all those, an image by Simon was selected as the overall Image of the Year winner of the Creative and Digital Art category, of which Simon had two images in the top ten.

This is the second year in a row where Simon has won the overall Image of the Year and he brought his wife Abi to the stage to collect the award.
The award was presented at the Guild’s Awards night at Crewe Hall, in Cheshire, on Saturday, February 6.
Steve Thirsk, director of the Guild, said: “I am both proud and delighted that Simon has achieved this recognition with his striking image. The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. The judging is undertaken by a panel of internationally recognised experts from a variety of photographic backgrounds, so Simon quite rightly should be delighted with his extraordinary achievement.”

I’m am so very grateful for their recognition and approval and love being a part of this superb, friendly organisation. And then to come second in the judge’s vote too, well, it doesn’t get much better than that.
“Abi deserved to be up there with me to receive the award as the image was based on her idea and it was her support and critique that made the image what it is and I love being part of such a special team.
“I would also love to thank the wonderful people of Bexhill for their support and, of course, the loan of their beautiful dogs without who we could not have made the picture.”
