Big Bang @ Butlin's inspires students
Bio-plastics, a pop-up mixing desk and 3D animation were just three of the activities at the Big Bang @ Butlin’s event, held last Thursday.
Local companies, educational institutions and schools attended this vibrant STEM celebration organised by STEM Sussex, the STEM outreach department based at the University of Brighton.

Hide AdThe aim of Big Bang @ Butlin’s was to inspire and inform those in attendance about all the possible STEM courses and careers available in the local area.
Chichester University gave students the opportunity to have a starring role in their own superhero movie, while The Body Shop explored packaging construction, highlighted bio-plastics and explored the chemical composition of shower gels.
Willmott Dixon gave students a virtual reality tour of their offices, The National Physics laboratory highlight the properties of liquid nitrogen and enthralled students with weight illusions and Southern Water talked students through the water journey, cracked codes and solved puzzles.
As well as interactive table-top activities, Science Made Simple delivered ‘Engineering for Life – From Cradle to Grave’.
