Charity song supports air show disaster fund
Ella Collins-Godden, 16, of Williams Road, Shoreham, has released a cover of Coldplay’s anthem Fix You, with the aim of raising money for the families of victims.
Ella decided to make the single when her father and brothers were supposed to attend the airshow, but decided to stay at home last minute.

Hide AdThe single was officially launched on Friday at the Old Shoreham Toll Bridge, which became a focal point for floral tributes after tragedy struck the airshow in August.
Ella said: “I am feeling really good about this because its taken a long time to get to this point. We wanted to change a few of the lyrics and we had to follow all of the proper procedures. It has been my focus for the past eight months and I am very pleased with the product.
“As a song, it just felt like it fitted the situation really well and it felt quite fitting.
“We thought about what we wanted to do with the single and we wanted to open it at the bridge because this was where people came with their tributes. It is awful what happened and our thoughts are still with the families.”

“I am proud that she came up with the idea, and that she fought and worked hard to get it done.”
Proceeds from the single will go to the Sussex Community Foundation and the Fire Fighters Charity, which have been working with families of victims of the isaster.
Ian Sinfield, of the Fire Fighters Charity, said: “We absolutely appreciate what Ella has done. It is going to an excellent cause.”

Hide AdThe CD and printing costs were funded by Sompting-based JSPC Computer Services after managing director James Stoner heard about Ella’s plan.
He said: “The horrors of the Shoreham Airshow disaster rocked our whole community. Everyone wanted to help, but no-one really knew what to do.
“This young girl has taken action and put herself out there to try and help.
“When I heard of Ella’s plight to raise money in aid of the disaster I knew I had to be a part of it.”
