Council ‘working hard’ for 20mph speed zone in Horsham district
Speed limits campaigner Antony Fletcher, of Horsham, told members of West Sussex County Council that there appeared to be a ‘lack of desire’ to make changes, and that the process of introducing 20mph areas should be improved.
He identified the Horsham town centre area and narrow roads in Slinfold as those needing a reduced speed limit.

He said: “If there is a genuine wish to have 20mph in the town centres and villages, we should get on with it.”
Brad Watson (Con, Southwater and Nuthurst) said: “We soon hope to have a 20mph approach, and it is one of those things we are working hard to get through.”
Morwen Millson (LDem, Horsham Riverside) said: “Obviously the county council has got to consult a lot of people - whereas Slinfold is a small village, clearly it is going to be quite complicated if we look at Horsham town.

“That is an added cost to do something that sounds very small, the consultation is probably the most complicated and costly part.”
