Man arrested after stabbing in St Leonards

Police were called to Grand Parade, St Leonards, at about 3.15pm on Monday (October 26).
A 38-year-old man was stabbed in the incident which happened near the Grand Hotel.

Hide AdHe was taken to hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition, according to police.
A 44-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody, police said.
Detective Constable Dione Powell said: “We are treating this as an isolated incident between two people known to each other. We want to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or the circumstances surrounding it. It happened in the middle of the afternoon on the seafront and there were members of the public in the area.”
A police cordon remained in place until Monday evening.
The air ambulance also attended but was only at the scene for approximately ten minutes.

Hide AdParamedics were called at approximately 3.15pm to reports of an assault in Grand Parade.
Ambulance crews attended the scene and one male patient was assessed and treated before being taken to hospital, the ambulance service said.
