Dates revealed for police bike marking days in Arun
Sussex Police is offering a free bike-marking events across the Gazette area this month and next following the scheme’s success in January.
Entitled Operation Velo, the initiative sees anti-tamper labels installed on the bikes. The owner’s details will be registered on a national database allowing police to check if a bicycle is stolen or in the wrong hands within minutes of stopping the rider.

Hide AdToday (Thursday, April 25), officers will be in Littlehampton High Street, between 3-6pm. On Sunday the scheme will move to Angmering Village Hall, in Station Road, between 11am and 2pm before it heads to the East Preston Parish Council offices, in Sea Road, on Monday from 10am until noon.
Thursday, next week, and Sunday, May 5, will see the scheme visiting to Arundel’s High Street, from 11am until 3pm and 11am until 2am, respectively.
The final events are set to take place on Thursday, May 23, in The Street, Rustington, from 11am-3pm and on Sunday, May 26, in High Street, Littlehampton at the same times.
The project was launched throughout the county at the beginning of the year to try to cut the cycle thefts.
