'˜Dreamy' accordian concert
Accordions at St Nics-2 will be held on Saturday, October 19, at 7.30pm.
John Simpson, church treasurer, said: “Last year, Helen and Ian Swyer organised the first accordion concert at the church and it was a tremendous success. The audience was amazed by the range and versatility of the instruments, and could not help tapping their feet to the catchy rhythms. We are delighted that Helen and Ian are returning with their friends to entertain us with music which ranges from the rousing to the dreamy.”

Ian Swyer, accordionist and organiser, said: “Because of the virtually endless variety of harmonies and rhythms accordions can produce, they have been absorbed into most musical genres from Cajun to tango and zydeco (Creole) to French bal-mussette. The instrument is currently making something of a comeback and can be heard regularly on TV backing tracks.”
