Eastbourne MP's chief of staff steps down
Ian Lucas, former leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, has said he believes his work in politics is done for the time being.
In a statement he said, “For nearly 20 years I’ve had a burning urge to be involved in the politics of my beautiful home town of Eastbourne.

“I have seen both success and failure. However lately, and for various reasons, I’m now clear that my work in this regard is done – perhaps not forever, but certainly for now.
“As such I am standing down from my position with our outstanding MP Caroline Ansell in a couple of weeks, and launching a start-up in March which I am very excited about – and which I will post details about shortly!”
Mrs Ansell said, “It has been brilliant to work with Ian these last years and he has played a significant role in establishing my office and the team in Eastbourne and Westminster.

“I hope he won’t be a stranger to politics as he has a wealth of experience and, because he is a principled man who always wants the best for our town.”
