The 29 students were paired with the Felpham school’s Year Nine and 10 pupils during the visit earlier this month, and spent the day exchanging in the two languages and learning about each other’s culture.
Celine Martinet, teacher of languages at Felpham Community College, said: “This is the second visit from France that FCC has had this term. It helps our students understand that they are part of a global world, where understanding each other’s cultures and languages is crucial. Students enjoyed the day and learnt a lot. Most of our year 10 students have a French pen pal and have been communicating on a regular basis. A growing number of our students decide to carry on learning a language for their GCSEs. This is hopefully a consequence of events such as this.”
