Gallery celebrates 1st anniversary
Many guests turned out to join in the celebrationis and Murmurations director, Joe Nguyen says the gallery has enjoyed an amazing first year. “We never thought we would receive such support and interest from the people of Bexhill and the surrounding area in our little contemporary art gallery,” he said.
“It has been a real regenerative process for the town. In the last year, Murmurations has presented eighteen different exhibitions – which for a small gallery is a lot.

Joe says the Winter Open Exhibition marries the two art traditions of Art and Crafts. “Contemporary in its nature as always, the exhibition includes modern artworks from local and regional artists as well as the addition for this year, a range of contemporary designer makers. These include works by ceramicists Julie Snowball and Bekky May, and silverware from Angela Webb. It is a rich show with lots of interesting artworks from sculpture, prints, photographs, to traditional paintings, with over 20 different artists and designers exhibiting.”
A number of photographers are also exhibiting. Daffyd Jones (formerly of the Tattler), Rick Moye, of the Bexhill Colonnade Kiosks fame, and the youngest entrant Jack Evans who is just starting out aged 13.
The exhibition is on until January 1, 2017. Visit: www.murmurationsgallery.co.uk
