Horsham Lions launch youth grants scheme

The West Sussex County Times is proud to support the project which aims to encourage and support young people by providing grants of up to £500 to both local youth organisations and individuals between the ages of 13 and 18.
Lion Tom George, chair of The Youth Project Committee, says that so many young people are having financial problems in the current recession and they would like to help them achieve their dreams and move forward with a chosen careers.

Hide AdThey have a £6,000 pot of money to distribute to worthy causes.
He said: “The Lions is a service organisation so we support any service to the community.It depends on what sort of requests we get.We had one lady who wanted sponsorship for her horse riding. She was hoping to become an Olympian.
There were three young musicians who want to go to Barcelona to take part in an orchestral event and we helped a group Guides go to Africa. We have also given grants to sports clubs.”
Grants will not be available for normal expenses in running an organisation.

Hide AdApplicants must reside, and organisations must operate within the Horsham area.
The closing date to apply for a grant is August 31 2015. Decisions on grants will be made in early September and presentation to the successful applicants early in October.
To apply for a grant either fill in the form in the West Sussex County Times or download from the Lions website www.horshamlions.freeuk.com/Youth Project.
