In or out? Lively debate on the EU staged at college

The pair were introduced to the school in St Julian’s Lane, Shoreham, by headmaster Richard Taylor-West, who then chaired the lively debate on whether the UK should remain in or leave the EU.
Mr Loughton opened with persuasive arguments as to why we should leave and Sir Peter Bottomley responded by highlighting the benefits of remaining.

Hide AdThe floor was then opened up to the audience to ask questions.
Mr Taylor-West said: “It was wonderful to have two distinguished politicians with us explaining some of the ins and outs of the European question, if you excuse the pun.
“I was extremely proud of our pupils who asked challenging questions about European security, finance and exactly who should be ‘let in’ to Europe - entirely without prompting. Events such as these make politics come alive for our young people.”
