West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the property in West Ashling Road, Hambrook – between Portsmouth and Chichester – at just after 5pm today (September 14). The fire was in a private garage and four fire engines and a water carrier went to the scene. The road was closed while firefighters put out the blaze and neighbours were told to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke. Images showed that the garage was destroyed by the fire. A fire service spokesman confirmed there were thought to be no casualties. The fire is now out as of 7pm, and crews remain at the scene to make sure the area is safe.
