South Malling always celebrates World Book Day, thinking of different ways to excite and encourage all their children to become even better readers, together with developing a lifelong love of reading. One of this year’s themes is for the children to consider where their reading takes them, and this has been used for the World Book Day competition. The school has entered this competition, creating a video based around this theme and have now uploaded this to their website. Please take a look, the Head says, ‘we are so proud of all the children who took part. Let’s hope we are successful with our entry - fingers crossed.’ Good Luck.
SOUTH MALLING CHURCH: Is using the fifth Sunday of this long month to enjoy a cafe service, an opportunity to worship in a more relaxed and social atmosphere with coffee and biscuits to hand and the church set out with tables and chairs. Last week, the Vicar spoke about the clash between rule, bound religious authorities set on criticising Jesus who had broken their rules by healing a blind man on the Sabbath Day, and the man whom he had healed, who, understandably, had little sympathy with the religious authorities. This week, we get to see what Jesus himself had to say to those who put religious rules before sympathy understanding and help for their fellow human beings. The service is at 9.30am. All are welcome.
