Man murdered in Mayfield cottage '˜was one of George Osborne's aides'

Paul Jefferies was found dead at his cottage in Coggins Mill Lane on Thursday, February 25 after his employers raised concerns with police that he had not been seen for a few days.
Reports in the national press say Mr Jefferies worked for HMRC for more than 20 years as a senior official who ‘helped shape Government tax policy’.

Hide AdA 17-year-old boy appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday, March 1) charged with the murder of Paul Jefferies.
The boy from Crowborough, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of killing Mr Jefferies on Tuesday (February 23).
The boy, who appeared in court via videolink, was remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday (March 3) for a preliminary hearing.
