More arrests made in drink-driving crackdown

TWO more motorists have been charged for allegedly driving their cars while intoxicated.

Angelo Oliveira, 51, was arrested at 1.45pm on Sunday (June 21) after his car was seen to hit the kerb as he left the Lidl car park in Littlehampton.

Mr Oliveira, of South Terrace, Littlehampton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

Elsewhere, Southwick man Michael Millard, 53, was arrested at 1.30pm on the day before in Southwick Street, Brighton, after police saw his van had a faulty light.

Mr Millard, of The Crescent, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 7.

So far a total of 84 people have been charged with offences during Sussex Police’s June drink and drug-driving operation.

As part of Operation Dragonfly, road policing unit officers are on dedicated patrols looking for offenders.

Teams are responding to tip-offs from members of the public who see someone they know has been drinking getting into a car to drive.

People in Sussex can text officers on 65999 with the details of people they suspect of drink or drug driving or visit operation crackdown’s website.
