The new equipment is being complemented by a vegetable garden. Plenty of potatoes as well as carrots, runner beans and lettuces have been planted to provide some home-grown cuisine for the children.
Jude Holland, the school's headteacher, said the creation of the kitchen in place of outdated facilities was important in enabling the pupils to find out about healthy eating.
'A lot of basic skills are not in homes anymore. So, the children eat meals that are prepared for them,' she explained.

The cost of the kitchen was met by parents' fundraising and the school's budget.
