It’s Bank Holiday weekend – and good weather is forecast! It’s turning out to be quite a nice year, after all.

The Footpath Group revel in the weekend, with a walk entitled – Lutyens as you may not know him - which is a five mile walk from Rolvenden Church. Sounds interesting! Meet in Northiam car park at 1.30pm, aiming to start the walk at 2pm. You are requested not to park in the Village Hall car park in Rolvenden.

Otherwise, it’s a fairly quiet week, with the last chance to take part in the Pretious Sports Hall’s Pay and Play sessions on Fridays 7-9pm , and Wednesdays 6.45pm – 7.45pm. The first session is free, and then just £2 per hour. The hall will be set up for badminton and table-tennis, with all equipment provided. These are open sessions where the sports hall is open to the community outside normal club times. There is no coaching provided, although a sports hall officer will be on site to help.

Coffee Stop opens in the Church Centre each Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon and everyone is very welcome to drop in for a chat.

Next Sunday, 1st September, the Bonfire Society are having a Clay Shoot at Conster Manor Farm, Broad Oak, Brede. Brede Shooting Club are hosting this event to raise money for the Bonfire Society and the Air Ambulance. A feature of the day is a Have a Go stand, for people like me who would like to try their hand, but don’t know what they’re doing! For £6 you can have 10 shots under expert tuition.

For the more experienced, please call 01797 252506 for details, as I can only repeat what is on the poster! High Gun £75, prizes to 3rd place, fibre wad cartridges only. But I do understand the next bit – refreshments available! The shoot starts at 10am with last entries at 1pm.
