Littlehampton pays tribute to its ‘most loyal fan’, David
David Millard, of Church Street, Littlehampton, collapsed while watching Littlehampton Football Club – known as the Golds – take on Newhaven FC on Saturday afternoon (April 27), at the Sportsfield ground.
Paramedics and air ambulance crews fought valiantly to save his life but tragically he died hours later, at Southampton Hospital.

Players and supporters held a minute’s silence in David’s memory before presenting a bouquet of flowers to his four grief-stricken daughters.
David’s daughter Jayne Steer, 56, of Beaumont Park, said: “Dad died secure in the knowledge that Littlehampton had secured promotion.
“It would have been the way he would have liked to go.”
She added that he was a family man who “adored” his grandchildren and great-grandchild and was a person who was “loved by everyone who knew him”.

“They have done him proud and we just wanted to thank them for everything that they did for him,” she said.
