LETTER: Inspector is judge and jury

This then is not an ‘interim’ letter by way of recommendation or suggestion as one would have thought or been led to believe. This, shockingly, is his final decision.
He even goes as far to state in the covering email (in emboldened type as a final insult and to emphasise the point) that he “will not accept any further representations, submissions or comments from any party on the contents of this letter, either in writing or verbally in the forthcoming hearings”. In short, if you don’t like it, tough. This then is the forcible, dictatorial attitude of Mr Bore.

Hide AdIt cannot be right that this one person alone has decided the fate of our district and that same one person seems to now be holding our district to ransom – accept the decision or the plan will be declared unsound. It now appears he has now denied anyone the right to challenge him, an astounding undemocratic approach from one lone individual.
Further, Mr Bore has failed whatsoever to comment on the immense additional infrastructure required to support his decision even though this was one of the main challenges facing even lower housing numbers that were put to him. He fails dismally to consider or even bother to comment on the impact endless housing estates would have on the unique, irreplaceable Mid Sussex landscape. He is wholly dismissive of the wishes of the community. He has acted as both Judge and Jury and proposes a non-negotiable sentence affecting the whole community.
At a time when the district plan was to have been finalised and adopted, this one planning inspector is demanding that more public money be spent in order to meet his relentless continuing demands. I would like to see him justify why he deems it acceptable for hundreds of thousands of more public money to be wasted in this way - especially when our council, leaders, representatives and community have already spent a considerable amount of time and expense compiling a realistic and sustainable plan. Except, of course, Mr Bore is now incommunicado, an interesting position given his status as a civil servant.
I wholly support the ‘Keep Mid Sussex Green’ campaign and totally reject the inspector’s one-sided imbalanced and unsupported views.
