Talk of changing franchises is just tantamount to changing the name on the office door.
There is a prima facie case for the ‘Arun Chord’ scheme and reopening the Uckfield-Lewes line to diversify train services between Brighton and London. The passing loop at Pulborough station in the judgement of Network Rail engineers is in urgent need of reinstatement to facilitate maintenance trains and balance the frequent fast and slow train services.

Hide AdNetwork Rail engineers have also reliably informed me that the result of withdrawing a siding at Chichester station to save a few quid has in practise proved about ten times as costly due to serious delays as there is nowhere to put maintenances and ballast trains.
