Ashington villagers raise funds for defibrillators
As well as sending an ambulance, they alerted our Ashington First Responders Suzanne Fenn and Elizabeth Greenfield as they are both resident in the village.
Suzanne was available and quickly went to his aid and was able to offer tremendous assistance, whilst waiting for the ambulance team to arrive.

Hide AdResident and business owner Doreen Brownson, who knew both the patient and our first responders, discovered that their defibrillators were on their last legs and that replacing them would cost around £1,000 each.
Being also Chairperson of Ashington Village Club Doreen Brownson suggested to the committee to hold a fund raising family day at the Club.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses who donated items for the auction and the villagers themselves, they managed to raise an amazing £2,784.00. Enough to purchase not just one, but TWO defibrillators, plus other essential equipment.
We are very pleased to report that the gentleman in question was also at our fund raising day and continues to enjoy life to the full. It just goes to show what any Village, Town or indeed City can do when they put their mind to supporting each other.
