Bonfire Boyes thank town for support
As I’m sure you know we have a team of volunteer collectors out on Bonfire Night and all the money they collect is distributed by us to local good causes and charities. The collectors do an amazing job and this year 17 people collected a total of £2634.25. As usual £400 of this has been allocated to our sending £5 each in a Christmas card to Battle senior citizens. Donations have also been allocated to The Royal British Legion, St Johns Ambulance, St Michaels Hospice, Raynet, Battle Bell Ringers, Battle Museum and the Kit Wilson Trust. This collection can make a real difference to local people; the smaller size of the crowds now has seen a significant reduction to our collection amount so when you see a collector on Bonfire night please give generously so we can continue to help local people in need. Although Battel Bonfire has been scaled back to enable our return to the Green many of our costs have not decreased proportionally. In fact some have significantly increased and new fees have arisen that didn’t exist when we had to leave the Green. Our fund raisers work tirelessly during the year to ensure we can fund Battel Bonfire year in year out. Please look out for our events during the year; we love to see everyone having a good time! With that in mind we will see in 2014 with a New Years Eve Party at Langton Hall. Please come and join us and help get Bonfire 2014 off with a bang.
