LETTER: No affordability in homes market
Having looked on the website - http://www.ourproperty.co.uk/ - that gives Land Registry sales and prices, I can find no record of any sales at Kilnwood Vale up to end-November 2013. You can buy a two bedroomed home in Wickhurst Green for £240,000.
Meanwhile Rightmove shows two-bedroom apartments offered for £214,950 - how affordable is that? I couldn’t find any one bedroomed flats or studios.

Hide AdThe local need is for a certain type of accommodation. Liberty will want to reduce the number of ‘affordable homes’ they have to build to the minimum whatever the figure Horsham District Council puts in its Local Plan. New properties over £245,000 may give a developer a bigger return but who will buy them?
Not young, struggling Horsham people wanting to find a first property of their own. Buyers will more likely be inward investors – wanting to buy and let or professionals wanting to live here and commute? What about overseas buyers from China, Middle East, India?
This isn’t what Horsham needs.
