New event at Arundel Castle
With thrilling combat and weapons displays, a wide range of minutely detailed costumes, showcases of historical crafts and the opportunity for young revellers to partake in have-a-go archery (must be aged 8+), this weekend offers something to entertain visitors of all ages.
The event will transport visitors back to 1815, where, after seeing the successful revolution in France, disillusioned Englishmen have called for the creation of a republic to remove the monarchy.

Hide AdFaced with growing dissent amongst the privateers, smugglers and revolutionaries of Sussex, the 2nd Queen’s Regiment of Foot has been dispatched to restore peace and order to the grounds of Arundel Castle - and end the threat of revolution once and for all.
The Castle’s American Lawn will play host to an encampment of rebels, as well as the accommodation of their adversaries, the Red Coats. With the two sides in such close proximity, their clashes promise to be unmissable!
Castle Manager Bryan McDonald comments: “We are excited to be hosting another new event at the Castle this year. Raven Tor Living History group always put on a fantastic display, and their historical showcases are firm favourites with our visitors. I am certain that our Privateers and Revolutionaries Weekend will be highly entertaining – as well as providing a fun history lesson for our visitors too!”
Arundel Castle is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, Mondays in August and Bank Holiday Mondays. Tickets are priced from £9. Further information on Arundel Castle and its 2015 event calendar can be found at www.arundelcastle.org
