The Police initiative has been ongoing for several years and includes, among other practices, signs at the entrance to the London Road precinct reminding residents that cycling is not allowed in pedestrianised areas.
In order to get the word out, the BID produced a number of ‘no cycling’ floor stickers and distributed them throughout the town with Police assistance.

Cyclists may be issued with a fine or a fixed penalty notice if they cause alarm, annoyance or distress to members of the public. Residents are encouraged to report any incidents to Sussex Police via 101 in a non-emergency or 999 in an emergency. They may also report incidents online at www.sussex.police.uk
