EcoSwap already donates reusable water bottles to schools throughout Bognor Regis and works closely with Family Support Work to provide cooked food and support. When Jacqui Herrington at Family Support Work said many of her families were looking for soft drinks to take out with their children, staff at EcoSwap decided it would be more sustainable to donate reusable bottles and squash instead, of single use, disposable soft drinks.
Gemma Hawkins, manager of EcoSwap CIC said: “This way the kids can keep hold of the bottles, take them to school, go out and about with them. It also reduces costs for parents. Rather than having to keep buying drinks, they can ask for refills of water. So hopefully it’s going to reduce costs for a lot of families and make sure kids keep drinking lots.”

We work with lots of families across Bognor and, with the weather getting better and people being allowed out after lockdown, they’re going out and about more. But if you buy drinks for children in town, it’s really expensive. So being able to give families a reusable bottle and a bottle of squash, that’s a really good thing. It means families can go out and parents aren’t stressing about the expense.”
Family Support Work provides one to one emotional and practical help to families throughout Sussex, with teams in Bognor, Eastbourne, Hastings, Worthing and beyond.
