Polegate group gets Comic Relief cash
Helen Turner has secured a grant for Act On It, a group which aims to use drama to help young people in the community.
Mrs Turner is one of the recipients of the £4.75 million grant which has been distributed between 124 social entrepreneurs.

Hide AdThe funding has been distributed to entrepreneurs working in areas such as housing, education, health and wellbeing, social care, unemployment and gender-based violence.
Mrs Turner said, “This grant has given us hope, opportunity and a real vote of confidence that the work we do matters.
“We will use the grant to move a lot of our drama-based workshops online and make sure we continue to support those we work with.”
Funding was made available thanks to an organisation called UnLtd’s partnership with Comic Relief, matched by the Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport as part of the government’s £750m support package for charities.

Hide AdThe aim of the grant is to help social entrepreneurs in England deliver their important services amid the pandemic.
Chief executive of UnLtd Mark Norbury said, “Those funded will be leading lights as we enter the next act of the coronavirus crisis – allowing us a glimpse of hope and optimism.”
