West Sussex woman receives MBE for services to neurodivergent people

Jane Green MBE MA Ed is an Ex-Assistant Headteacher and Autism lead for neurodivergent people. This includes those with related joint hypermobility conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
Mrs Green founded SEDSConnective, then SussexEDS in 2018. The groups were set up to meet the unmet needs of people who are neurodivergent (autistic, dyspraxic, ADHD and Tourettes’ ) and symptomatic hypermobile if no diagnosis has been given, which includes joint hypermobility syndromes and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes

Hide AdSEDSConnective is a charity led by experts in the area and supported by other voluntary members, carers, expert advisers, and professionals with a keen interest in these areas.
Mrs Green said: “I was deeply honoured but also surprised to see an email at the beginning of December in my email box. I had to keep checking but had no printer to even print it. I ended up having to use the library. It was difficult to keep it very quiet.
“I am so delighted that these issues and conditions are finally being recognised in the King’s Honours List and on behalf of my members and also anyone else affected directly or indirectly.
“There is further advocacy to do and although we have some expertise, we always welcome more and as a voluntary service, we desperately need support in this area.”
