Photographs show the solemn dignity of Remembrance Day in Lewes
Young men dressed in the uniforms of the Great War made Remembrance Day in Lewes particularly poignant yesterday (Sunday, November 11).
They stood with heads bowed at the corners of the War Memorial in the town centre as the anniversary of the armistice which ended the conflict was marked in a moving ceremony.
Two minutes’ silence were observed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - exactly 100 years after the guns finally fell silent.
Photographer Peter Cripps was there, along with huge crowds, to capture the dignity of the solemn occasion.
