'The majority of the burglaries would seem to be aimed at ground floor flats and bedsits.'
Crime Prevention Officer Trevor Cox stated that the burglaries have coincided with the daylight hours becoming shorter and he reminded householders to check and secure all windows and doors before going to bed.
He also urged residents to secure garden gates, side gates and garden sheds as free access to the rear could make properties a target.
Any members of the public who are disturbed by unusual sounds or see any prowlers in their vicinity should contact the police immediately.
