During a meeting of the full council, Philip Circus, cabinet member for environment, recycling & waste, told fellow councillors he and the staff were ‘very enthusiastic’ about the scheme.
Household batteries will be part of the kerbside collection but people will have to book online to arrange a collection of their textiles and electrical items such as kettles and toasters.
There will be no charge for the services.

“They should be disposed of separately and our door-to-door collection will hopefully attack that problem.”
Mr Circus told the meeting that Horsham was currently the 59th best performing authority in the country when it came to recycling.
He added that the council was currently working on a programme for the collection of food waste and, once that came online, Horsham could find itself in the top 10.
