Decision due on major Shoreham Harbour redevelopment
Hyde New Build Ltd wants to redevelop Kingston Wharf, in Brighton Road, two vacant brownfield sites previously occupied by a builder’s merchant and aggregate-bagging plant.
The scheme is for three u-shaped residential buildings ranging from four to eight storeys alongside an enterprise centre on the northern side of the River Adur.

Parking for the residential units would be on a semi-basement level.
Public realm improvements include podium gardens and a riverside walk for pedestrians and cyclists with a seating area.
An application for the development is due to be discussed by Adur District Council’s planning committee on Monday June 8.

Hyde is planning to deliver 100 per cent affordable housing and has entered into a strategic partnership with Homes England.
Of the 255 total, 92 flats would be social rented and the remaining 163 as shared ownership units.
A new puffin crossing would be provided on Brighton Road next to the proposed development.

An officers’ report said: “The development would provide crucial elements of the harbourside regeneration project; an attractive riverside path; greater roadside space with wider paving for a future cycle path and provision for the future district heating system.
“Homes will face the river across well-considered and safe communal spaces, which the public can also see; roadside views of the coastal skies through gaps which are wide and well-spaced keeping a sense of visual connection and light.”
