Primary school allocations announced in Brighton and Hove
But 40 children were not offered any of their top three choices. The council said these children were offered places at the nearest school to their home address that had places available.
Councillor Dan Chapman, chair of the council’s children, young people and skills committee, said: “We have an excellent family of schools in our city and we’re delighted to be able to offer so many families their preferred school.

Figures for September 2018 allocation
First preference: 2,333 pupils (89.4%)
Second preference:197 pupils (7.55%)
Third preferences 39 pupils (1.49%)
No preference: 40 pupils (1.5%)
Total applications: 2,609
