Railway chaos continues into rush hour
This morning (April 30), many trains from Eastbourne and Hastings towards London Victoria were cancelled because of the issues on the line.
Some passengers were stuck on trains for hours and had to be evacuated after the network came to a standstill.

Souther Rail said, “Electrical supply problems in the Clapham Junction area has caused major disruption in the Clapham Junction area. There is a very limited service into and out of Victoria and we are advising passengers to avoid Victoria and travel on different routes into and out of London.
“Passengers can use the London Underground, London Bus, London Tramlink, South West Trains, Southeastern, and Thameslink services.
“Network Rail is in the process of repairing the damaged power supply rail and services will continue to be disrupted while this is taking place. We expect there to be disruption to services with delays, cancellations and short notice alterations for this evening’s peak as there will be trains and train crews out of place.”
Problems on the mainline have also had a knock-on effect on coastway services, meaning trains between Ashford and Brighton are subject to delays.
