She was a member of Sedlescombe Garden Society, attended the shows and at the New Year parties even played the piano for entertainment.
Sylvia was the secretary for the Sedlescombe Societies Association and chaired the Sedlescombe Village Hall Committee, as well as acting as booking clerk for the hall.
She was an active help at the village school too, as a classroom assistant, and enjoyed being with the children.

Sylvia was pleased when her sister Becky moved to Sedlescombe as she and John were very family orientated, and she loved having Tim and Casper, her sons, visit with their families, and to stay with them.
She took great pride in her grandchildren and their achievements.
Sylvia also enjoyed family trips to France and spoke fluent French.
