Sid the Squid wants support for Littlehampton Bonfire Society
The Littlehampton Gazette has teamed up with Littlehampton Bonfire Society to bring you Sid, an appealing character who is rallying support for the group’s diamond jubilee event on Saturday, October 27.
Last year’s street collection set a new Littlehampton record of £9,110, but the society has a long-held goal to break through the five-figure total.

And so in this, the 60th anniversary year of the bonfire tradition being revived in Littlehampton, the Gazette is lending its support to the appeal.
Said editor Roger Green: “I was thinking how we could help the society in this special year, when the idea of Sid the Squid popped into my head.
“He will be featuring every week in the Gazette leading up to the Littlehampton bonfire night, to encourage all our readers to be even more generous when they throw their coins into the collection bucket.

This year’s collection will be shared between Enable Me, Sussex Search and Rescue, Worthing and District Scope and Wick Information Centre.
