Spectacular fireworks across the Midhurst and Petworth area

At Heyshott chairman of the bonfire committee Laura Parry said: “The conditions were perfect – a dry and still night. The effect was a huge turnout and Guy Fawkes was given a first-rate send off.
“Heyshott was flooded with people coming to join in with the small village bonfire, and they were given a fantastic show. A stunning torch lit procession, led by magnificent Home Counties Pipes & Drums, was a sight to behold. Mr Punch gave a great show, that drew a huge crowd and Selstar Fireworks put on an incredible display.

And we are indebted as always to the volunteers, who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, ensuring everything was ready for the evening, everyone was kept safe on the night, and the village was returned to its natural state on Sunday.”
At Cocking the event was held at the sports field next to the village hall with fireworks sponsored by the parish council.
Chairman David Imlach said: “It is not a commercial event - it’s for the village and there was a turnout of over 200 people and they enjoyed sausages and mulled wine as they watched the display.”
A record crowd of some 1500 enjoyed Milland’s Bonfire Evening, which organised by the bonfire and fireworks committee for the parish council, has been an fixture in the Milland calendar for over 50 years: “We always receive a lot of positive feedback about our fireworks and we increased our budget for fireworks again this year so as not to disappoint,” reported John Collier, one of the organising committee. It was planned by local company, Aurora Fireworks who also trained and advised the firework firing team to ensure a risk free event.
