Sports Centreis safe for nexteight years
The Sports Centre is used by Claverham Community College during school hours, and then available for community use outside those hours.
Rother District Council has agreed funding of £6,000 a year for the next eight years to allow the use of the Sports Hall, Gym, and 3G Sports Pitch by local people.

Hide AdThe news has been welcomed by Battle Rother Councillors Kevin Dixon and Kathryn Field.
Both were at a special meeting of the Centre’s Advisory Committee where the terms were initially agreed.
Commenting on the deal, Kevin Dixon said “This will be a good outcome for the Town, the District Council and the Sports Centre, as it guarantees a regular funding stream allowing the Centre to plan more easily for the next eight years”.
Kathryn Field added:“Battle Sports Centre is being used more and more by the local community, and it is vital that this continues.

The final ratification for the funding goes to Rother’s Cabinet on Monday 9th February.
Rother Council has held a shared agreement with East Sussex County Council for Battle Sports Centre since January 1986.
Rother’s contract obligation was to meet one half of the cost of repairs, maintenance and alterations.

Hide AdThe council runs an Active Rother programme aimed at maximising with opportunities to promote sports provision in partnership with other organisations.
Battle Sports Centre was opened in 1987 at Claverham Community College, North Trade Road.
January saw the installation of new cricket nets and a bowling machine at the sports centre.
