Teachers and pupils positive about Findon Valley school
During a maths lesson, Year one teacher, Laura Harvey said: “At this age it’s much more about using resources. We have a 10 minute mental starter, then we have 15 minutes on the carpet, and this week we are looking at patterns. The children can choose and go between equipment. There’s more choice. I stop them half-way through their activities and see how they are getting on and then they can swap equipment. Some prefer working on the laptops where others prefer to use the building blocks.”
Mr Garratt added that each year group had 30 laptops at their disposal and access to wi-fi.

Student, Francis Simmonds, 11, said: “It’s really good. When you are at home it’s hard to try to do a lot of cooking because your parents just want to get on with it.”
Food teacher, Karen Caughlin said: “I think to be learning life skills that are going to prepare them for the future and to help them become independent is really important.
We are really lucky to have this new facility which means the whole school can access the kitchen now and it will also help the children learn about diet which is really important these days.”
