Tickets go on sale for Jubilee choral concert
Under the baton of John Langridge, the Society’s Director of Music, the one hundred voice choir and full professional orchestra will begin the evening with Benjamin Britten’s arrangement of The National Anthem and perform music from the 1953 Coronation, Handel’s Coronation Anthem ‘Zadok the Priest’ and Parry’s ‘I Was Glad’.
The first half will close with Elgar’s Land of Hope and Glory.

Hide AdThe second half is a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 in D minor, ‘The Choral’, much loved for its jubilant ‘Ode to Joy’ finale.
The soloists will be Sally Silver, soprano, Heather Ireson, mezzo, Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts, tenor and Alexander Baker, bass.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Royal British Legion.
