Traditional May Day celebrations at St Margaret's

Parents and siblings gathered at St Margaret’s CE Primary School, in Arundel Road, Angmering, last Wednesday to watch the entertainment, including dances.
The celebrations started at 1.20pm with the crowning of May Queen Millie Justice, May Princess Izzy Pitt, May King Mason Wright and May Prince Joseph Scott.

Hide AdThe royal party, voted for by the juniors, was dressed in their finery for the occasion.
Morgan Hodgson, last year’s May Queen, crowned Millie, then she and Jack Burton, last year’s May King, presented cups to the new royal party.
All year groups processed past the royal party in turn. The May Queen, King, Prince and Princess then took a turn around the field themselves before striding up the red carpet to their thrones.
Following the crowning ceremony, there were dances performed by each year groups, with all the children dressed up for the occasion, wearing colourful outfits.

Hide AdWilliam Older Playschool and Angmering pre-school also joined the occasion, performing The Jingle Ring.
The reception classes danced along to Maypole Medley 2, year one danced to Black Nag, year two and Maple Class danced to Jameko, year three performed to Zootropolis by Shakira, year four danced to Years and Years by King, year five danced to Firestone and year six performed to Walking on Sunshine.
Some year six children then danced the May Pole to end the celebrations.
