Cycle lane confusion on Brighton seafront
Resurfacing work has been taking place along the A259 seafront road in Brighton
But the new white lines demarcating the cycle lane in the road were labelled ‘super confusing’ by one cyclist on Twitter.

Hide AdPeople on social media have called for the wands separating the cycle lane and the road to be reinstalled.
Twitter user SimonB said: “Cycle lanes need to be protected, or they become a carpark!
“Can be have the seperator wands back on #Brighton seafront pls?”
Another Twitter user said: “8 vehicles parked in the new cycle lane and it’s terrifying where the road markings haven’t been put in yet but there’s no warning.
“Suddenly you are cycling amongst a traffic free for all.”

Hide AdWalk & Ride Brighton tweeted: “Was nearly knocked down by taxi driver illegally entering the entrance of the bike lane. New wands needed asap others may not be so lucky.”
A council spokesperson said: “The flexible wands were removed temporarily from the cycle lane so that resurfacing work could be carried out.
“The wands will be reinstalled with work set to be completed, as scheduled, this coming Thursday.”
