THE Hall was the venue for the first big event to be held there, the Harvest Lunch last Sunday.
Over eighty people sat down to an excellent meal, followed by an auction of promises, the combined proceeds of which came to some £1,320, to be shared between WaterAid and St Mary’s parish church funds.

Hide AdAT the inaugural meeting of the St Mary’s Community Hall Management Committee on Tuesday evening in the Hall, it was announced that there were four vacancies for election onto the Committee.
As four nominations for these places had been received, all four were duly elected.
This being so, the Committee now comprises: Nan Hacking, Fr Martin Harper and Robert Wheeler (trustees), and Linda Harland, Frank Langrish, Cherry Merricks and Jennifer Quinnell (elected members).
Before the election took place, Robert Wheeler treated the assembled company to an informative account of the various crises the project had come through on its way to completion, paying warm tribute to some of the many people whose support had contributed so much to its final success.
Those present then chatted informally about future plans, while enjoying the refreshments provided by the Committee.
