RNLI Selsey Lifeboat Station's all-weather lifeboat was launched at 6.35pm after UK Coastguards received information from Sussex Police 'concerning clothes and a mobile phone that were found on the beach' at Bognor.
The lifeboat, joined at the scene by Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team, was tasked to conduct a 'parallel line ahead search', with a start position, one mile south of Bognor pier.
